Focused EMDR support when weekly therapy feels too spread out

EMDR intensives offer a more concentrated way to begin or deepen trauma work. Instead of spreading the process across shorter weekly sessions, an intensive creates protected time to focus on the experiences, symptoms, and patterns that are asking for care.

This format can be helpful when you are carrying the weight of a specific traumatic event, feeling stuck in old survival responses, or wanting a more contained approach to processing memories that still feel present in your body and daily life.

What an EMDR intensive can support

Every intensive begins with preparation and a conversation about readiness. The goal is not to rush healing. The goal is to create enough time, safety, and structure for the work to feel grounded.

  • Post-traumatic stress symptoms and trauma reminders
  • Anxiety, panic, or emotional flooding connected to past experiences
  • Grief, traumatic loss, and painful life transitions
  • Childhood abuse, neglect, or relational trauma that presents in adulthood
  • Stress carried by first responders, professionals, attorneys, caregivers, and helpers
  • High-conflict family dynamics, custody stress, or family-court-related trauma

How the process works

An intensive is tailored to your needs, history, and nervous system. Some clients use the time to focus on a single event. Others work with a theme, such as safety, shame, grief, trust, or the way trauma has shaped relationships and self-worth.

  1. Consultation and fit. We begin by clarifying what you want support with and whether an intensive is clinically appropriate.
  2. Preparation and stabilization. You will have time to build grounding, resources, and a plan for pacing the work.
  3. Focused EMDR processing. The intensive gives us longer blocks of time to work with memories, beliefs, body responses, and symptoms.
  4. Integration and next steps. We close with space to settle, identify aftercare needs, and decide what continued support may look like.

A steady, authentic pace

EMDR intensives are not a one-size-fits-all solution, and they are not emergency care. They are best approached with care, honesty, and attention to what your system can safely hold. Monica’s work is trauma-focused, compassionate, and grounded in helping clients move toward healing without feeling pushed past their capacity.
